Hi Reader,
I celebrated my 42nd birthday last year and despite not feeling a day over 27 (and still dressing like one ๐
), I can't deny that birthday hit me harder than expected.
That's because around that time, I started noticing some light perimenopause symptoms.
Of course I didn't have a name for what was happening at the time, and it's only after I had a couple of chats with women my age who were navigating the same shifts that I could finally label some of the changes I'd been noticing in my body and mood.
And on top of those symptoms, there's a specific kind of exhaustion I've been feeling lately, and I wonder if you recognise it too.
It's the exhaustion that comes from sensing something has shifted inside you while everything on the outside keeps demanding you stay the same.
Your body feels different, your energy moves in patterns you don't understand, and the strategies that used to work for managing stress or staying grounded don't seem to land anymore.
Like me, you've probably tried adjusting things - new supplements, different routines, more intentional practices.
You've read the articles and listened to podcasts about perimenopause, hormones, and transitions.
And still, there's this sense that what you actually need isn't another solution to implement, but something deeper.
What I've been craving this past year isn't another podcast or a new framework to follow.
What I need is to be surrounded by women who get me. Who understand what this particular kind of shift feels like.
Or maybe women who aren't going through perimenopause but a different type of change - physical or mental - that makes them feel lost, confused, alone, exactly like I sometimes do.
That is why Dhara and I designed A Pause in the Season.
It really came from a place of need and from the recognition that most retreats out there don't provide what we need and crave at this stage in our lives.
A space where women can finally speak about rage, grief, confusion, exhaustion without being judged.
Where rest is medicine.
Where you can trust your body again instead of fighting it.
If you're a woman navigating a season of change, if you're feeling disconnected from your body, depleted by the pace of life, uncertain about who you're becoming, if you're at a crossroads questioning your purpose and your next chapter - this retreat is exactly what your nervous system needs.
You don't have to be in crisis to come.
You simply need to feel the pull.
Because what happens when 15 women gather with the intention to pause - to truly rest, to speak honestly, to hold space for each other without judgment - is something you can't replicate alone.
